It’s not like I haven’t done bass pickups before. I’ve done them. Back in 2004, Fernandez guitars commissioned my to do a very large batch of J and P-bass pickups for their high end basses. Since then, I’ve done a few one-offs for people, but never added them to the regular model line. I suppose part of the reason why was because the magnet length is different than those required for Strat and Tele style pickups, and I didn’t really feel like having thousands of them on hand if I didn’t get many requests for them.
We’ll be doing that soon, starting with P and J-bass models, and hopefully soon after that, branching out into MM style pickups.
It’s about time, don’t you think?
