Vintage P.A.F style humbucker with low and medium output

SKU: N/A Category: Tags: , , , , ,

Description

The Legend humbuckers are aged to perfection both inside and out. I start with the highest quality, Made-in-USA nickel-silver P.A.F. replica cover aged to stunning authenticity. Then, aged bobbins, and aged pole-pieces. No expense is spared and no detail overlooked! These pickups use plain enamel wire, unpotted, randomly wound and assembled coils, and Alnico-2 magnets for the most authentic P.A.F. tone available. Just like old pickups, no two are alike. Average readings are 8.5k bridge and 7.5k neck. .

Don’t want all the aging hoopla? Just ask about un-aged versions too!

I tried 3 other sets of pickups from various big names, either too bassy or not enough chimey top-end. Went to a local shop, Mass Street Music in Lawrence, who carries the whole line of Wolfetone. Talked with the sale people about characteristics I wanted and then listened to high quality recordings of the different pickups in the same guitar (Les Paul) with the same settings. The Legends were the sound in my head.
Bought a set of aged nickel and could not be happier. Terrific pickups, well done!

I’ve gone through lots of boutique and vintage humbuckers. Most are muddy and soul-less ..with inconsistent quality. Wolftone Legends are always excellent with great tone and mojo. There is also a unique airy-ness to them which I love. I’ve had 4 sets so far.

I’ve been using two sets of Legends for a few weeks now, long enough for the honeymoon to be over. The first set went into an Orville by Gibson Les Paul standard and exceeded my expectations in every way. They are open, dynamic and could be almost described as 3D. Great pickups. The second set which I believe to be a Kauer wind went into an Orville by Gibson Les Paul Custom which has quickly become my favorite guitar. These pickups are full, clean and create a sound that for me could not be better. The harder you drive them the better they sound. After literally years of searching for the perfect tone I now have 2 different but equally good perfect tones thanks to the Legends.

I have a couple of Wolfetone Legends in my Gibson Les Paul. They are fantastic.Sound really vintage

  5. Rick LaForce

An absolutely perfect match for my ’68RI Les Paul Custom, both sonically and visually with the aged nickel covers. Hands down, the most musical pickup I’ve ever played. Notes are girthy and dimensional. The pickups are marvelously touch-sensitive and the range of tones, with variations in volume/tone settings, is satisfying beyond words. Clean, dirty, or outright filthy, these pickups deliver whatever I want from this Les Paul.

Over the decades, many guitars have come and gone, but this is “The One”, and the Wolfetone Legends are, and will ever remain, its voice.

I’ve got Wolfetone pickups in all 3 of my guitars now. I put this in the neck position of my ES-175. I spent about 4 years moving and adjusting the Classic 57, and while it wasn’t bad it sounded like it was missing something. It wasn’t as clear as I wanted, and it was too creamy. I have a Dr. V in my neck on my Les Paul, so it was between the Dr V and the legend. I emailed Wolfe and he told me the Legends were a little brighter, which is exactly what I was after.

Wolfe’s pickups are hands down the best you can buy; he’s also got the best customer service.

I got these for my Les Paul Traditional as I felt the 57 Classic/Classic+ was not quite what I was looking for. I tried several different options until I tried the Legends, and I will say, that I believe that my Les Paul now sounds like what a vintage ’59 would sound like. These ended up being what I think is THE perfect set for a Les Paul if you’re looking for a vintage sound, and the ONLY pair I will ever use in a Les Paul again. If you’re looking for that timeless sound, then you’ve found it.

I have used Wolfe for many years and he has always come though with the right pickups for any given guitar. I just recently got the Legends after some back and forth on what I though suited my particular ear and the guitar. Awesome is the word on the product and the service. I know the pickup “industry” has really gotten saturated. Don’t be swayed by excessive marketing. Wolfe delivers a top shelve product at a very fair price.
